Wendy’s Crafts?Wendy and her Market Stall

Wendy’s Crafts is a retirement passion for me. I am a former chemist and financial services officer. After almost 30 years working in structured, process-driven government departments I decided to expand my creativity and jam-making skills from family and work colleagues to the community..

What I didn’t realize was how many new friends I would make and how much joy would be added to my life.

Who is Wendy?

I was born into a farming family at Finley, in the Riverina Region of New South Wales.  Jam-making with my mother and grandmother was a happy and industrious time.

Education in Finley, Melbourne, Wagga Wagga, and Canberra resulted in a Chemistry degree. Graduation coincided with an Australia-wide recession. I went where there was work. Wagga Wagga, Cairns, and finally Wollongong.

I continued to make jam.

Gifts for work colleagues usually arrived as a jar of homemade jam.  Blackberry Jam is a particular favourite of my friends. I remain passionate about keeping the art of jam-making alive.

Farmers Markets

Retirement from full-time work enabled the time opportunity for me to focus on my homemade jam.

A portable gazebo, a table, a white tablecloth, 24 jars of Blackberry jam in the back of the car,  site booking at a market and the new adventure began.

Wendy’s Crafts now has over 20 Jams, Marmalades, and Relishes and are a regular sight at 4 Markets and a growing number of Specialty Fairs 38 weeks per year.

Wendy’s commitment to homemade jam

The demand for the Wendy’s Crafts range of Jams, Marmalades, and Relishes is growing from year to year.

I remain committed to small-batch, fresh fruit production of my product. Delicious, real fruit, homemade marmalade, jam and relish.

For all of my regulars I need to let you know that I will be away from 12th September to the 29th October. So if you need supplies to tide you over, remember to buy plenty before I go. I am also low on the Fig Jams and Peach and Passionfruit Jam. But I do have Blackcurrant and Boysenberry Jams.

Im so sorry that I was not at Sutherland Shire Farmers Market this morning. When I started out, my van went through water on a part of the Princes Highway that I have never seen before. I turned around to maybe try again in a little while, going through that water again. The van almost stalled and on the short journey home I went through more water. I then set out when it had stopped raining and went in the opposite direction, to see 5 cars ahead of me, stalled in a creek that normally flows under the bridge. Back home again.
